Day Zero Project

My good friend Dave Cox is about to start his second Day Zero project which involves drawing up a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days and trying to complete as many as possible. I feel pretty inspired by him to do the same so I have come up with my own list.

I have so many ideas, goals and inspirations floating around in my head but am the world’s worst procrastinator so projects rarely get started or if they do … never finished. I’m also a bit of a perfectionist which leads to over complicating things, getting stressed when they don’t work out the way I planned and the feeling of failure when I inevitably  give up on them.

This is going to be a huge challenge and some would say “what will be different with this project?” Well I really really want to overwrite these bad habits with positive, confidence building experiences. Hopefully the initial desire to change is a good base with which to build upon.

I know that nobody ever completes their list, which I think is good knowing as it can never be “perfect”. This knowledge I’m hoping will free me up to just give things a go and see what happens.

I’ve been thinking about what to put on the list for a while. I really wanted it to contain challenges and goals that spanned lots of different areas of my life. It really helped me to realise what I wanted to achieve over the next 2.74 years. The items that made it onto my list are obviously those which I’ve highly prioritised or the most interested in, which is a great focus for personal development.

I am going to begin project zero on the same day as my muse, Dave – January 1st 2011. I’m really excited, it feels like the start of a big adventure.
