Ulster Holiday; Day 1

Both Ben and I couldn’t wait for our holiday to Norn Ireland, especially after Ben’s tiring trip to the states and repetitive daily home life. For the first part of our trip,we were accompanied by my folks who have always wanted to see the sights of Ulster. Michael and Carol were great hosts, taking us to all the good sites. Even better, the sun decided to shine every day.

Day 1: We all caught up over lunch at Donaghadee garden centre and I stuffed myself full of Irish stew and Pear & Almond cake. We went for a couple of walks, first along the coast by Michael & Carols’ house, then into Bangor and along the harbour and coastal path.  I don’t know what it is about the Ulster coastline. I think Mum and Dad would agree with me that it really is beautiful. So many wild flowers, birds & lichens, picturesque stony and sandy coves and lots of sailing boats out and about. We were pleased to see (rather … hear) loads of Eider ducks, bobbing on the waves with their chicks.
