An Ulster Christmas

This was my first Christmas over in Northern Ireland with Ben’s family. Carol had the house looking lovely and festive and it felt especially wintery with all the snow still lying … even on the beach!

We had a fun Christmas day made even more special with our beautiful little niece Eve. She’s grown so much since we saw her last and must be the smiliest baby we’ve ever met. It was nice to catch up with Ben’s uncle, aunt and cousin Nicola as well as it’s been a while since we last saw them.

The culinary spread was delicious, so much so that the food devouring ogre inside of me took over and Sarah’s gorging campaign commenced, much to the probable shock of my in-laws.

The film we planned to watch later was abandoned after what started out as a quick round of the Emperor party game turned into a hilarious marathon even with my sister-in-law Julie, determined to win at least one round. And win she eventually did and she was crowned “Champion of champions”! Yay!

We were all going to go out for a long walk on Boxing day, but it was so slippy and slidy that after fifteen minutes down the road the only real sensible thing to do was to find our feet again in a warm pub.

I hope all our other friends and family had a merry Christmas and lots of fun.
