Ulster Holiday

So Peter has just been on his first trip to Northern Ireland and we’ve had our first holiday since our son arrived. What a great break it was, especially for me to have a change of scenery. I think we all really enjoyed it especially Peter who got lots of attention and new things to see and hear.

We were a bit apprehensive about travelling with a young baby but he was so great, sleeping and eating at all the right times. I felt a bit like a hobbit heading off on a big adventure as we drove through places called Twynholm & Elvanfoot, passing the river Ur & the forest Ae and lastly leaving Stranraer on the last voyage of the Dawntreader (ahem well actually the HSS catamaran ferry but hey ho).

When we arrived Peter got to meet his Uncle Jake, Auntie Julie and Cousin Eve. It was so cute to see Eve and Peter together, I think he was in awe of her. She has grown so (cont…)

big now and has walking down to a tee. She does this fake laughing, walks around with a box on her head and chitter chatters in gobbledygook, all of which is hilarious. Within five minutes of us all arriving at Carol & Michaels’, their beautiful house was turned upside down with kiddy things.

It was great to be there for Jake & Julies’ birthdays and to catch up wih them too. The best news of all is that Julie’s 20 week scan went really well so we are all excited & hoping baby Curry number 3 will be with us early April 2012.

So what did we get up to … dinner out at Deans in Belfast, Indian takeaways, a craft workshop with Carol, playing with Eve, called out the AA for a new battery, lie inns!!, knitting my scarf, Belfast Botanics, muchos eating, The Yard (my favourite coffee shop / art gallery), family photo shoots and new car shopping (check my disapproving face of Ben’s current fav!).

We had a fantastic relaxing time, thanks so much to Grandma & Grandpa for looking after Peter on numerous occasions and giving us a break. Especially when both Ben & I came down with nasty colds at the end of the week. Because of this & the car trouble  we delayed coming home for three days. Now we’re home it’s a bit of a shock to the system again, the contents of the bags are strewn all over the house lol.
